Tennis ball cupcakes … gotta LOVE them!

What’s not to LOVE (tennis pun intended) about tennis ball cupcakes?
My husband is a tennis fan, player, and coach. So what better way to celebrate his month-long 40th birthday celebration (not quite that long, but we did celebrate a few times) than with cupcakes decorated as tennis balls?!
To get the right color, I used yellow food coloring in the buttercream frosting. And then a dash of green, mixing until I thought the color was close enough. And then white strips of frosting to add the final touch.
I then put the cupcakes in the freezer to keep them fresh and handy for all the days we celebrated.
These were made with cherry chip cake batter, and they were super yummy! Think I could sell these at the U.S. Open?!
Happy 40th Birthday, Gino!
