Phillip Phillips wins ‘American Idol;’ now ready for surgery

Phillip Phillips was crowned the winner of “American Idol” on Wednesday night, but the talented singer isn’t able to do the regular talk-show circuit immediately like most reality show winners.

Phillips, 21, has been under doctor care throughout his “American Idol” run with kidney problems. He told Kelly Ripa and Seth Meyers on “Live With Kelly” over the phone Thursday morning that he will not appear on their show just yet, as he is under doctor care and will undergo surgery.

When asked about the upcoming “American Idol” tour, featuring the top contestants, Phillips told Hollywood Life that he won’t miss it.

“No, no, no. I am excited for the tour,” he told Hollywood Life.
