“American Idol” is down to its final two contestants, one of whom has stood out from the crowd with his unique sound and style.

Phillip Phillips – “American Idol” on Fox

Phillip Phillips has been a breath of fresh air on the singing competition, which has been filled with plenty of Mariah Carey-Carrie Underwood wanna-bees. In fact, his final competitor, Jessica Sanchez, has the typical voice that would usually win the competition.

So yes, Jessica is a great singer. But as for her being the “American Idol,” I think she lacks personality and originality. Phillip has stuck to his unique style all along, belting out classics like Billy Joel’s “Movin’ Out” and Bob Seger’s “We’ve Got Tonight” like he owned them.  And his facial expressions and body movements as he sings has girls swooning all over America (At least he does in my living room!)

So whether or not Phillip wins “American Idol,” I know he will go on to a great career.  I will definitely buy tickets to a Phillip Phillips show in the future, as well as purchase his music.
